King Harald Hospitalized in Spain
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. in Norway, the Norwegian Palace announced that King Harald, 89, has been hospitalized in Tenerife due to an infection and dehydration.
The King, who celebrated his 89th birthday less than a week ago, had been on a private holiday with his wife, Queen Sonja.
Palace officials say that his condition is currently stable and being closely monitored by local doctors. The King’s personal physician is expected to travel to Tenerife to assist the medical team.
This is not the first time King Harald has faced health issues while traveling abroad. In 2023, during a private holiday in Malaysia, he fell ill with an infection that required several days in the hospital.
A medical evaluation plane was dispatched from Norway to bring him home, with The Queen accompanying him.
